Who benefits?

All the funds we raise go to the Building Blocks Appeal of enhanceherts (the fundraising arm of the Lister and QEII Hospitals).

The Building Blocks Appeal raises money for babies’ and children’s services at the Lister and QEII Hospitals, including the Special Care Baby Unit, Maternity Wards, Children's A&E department and the Bluebell Children's Ward. If you host a party, you can decide to which of these services your money goes.

Last year we raised £10,000 (including gift aid). This money was used to:

Buy 4 parents' beds for the children's ward, to ensure all parents who want to stay with their child in hospital, canMake a substantial contribution to the purchase of a new scanner for the Special Care Unit

The money we raise this year can make a huge difference to sick children and their families. It will be spent on items such as toys, furniture and refreshment facilities which make very difficult, stressful and traumatic experiences easier to bear. It can also enable the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, which can prevent sick babies and children making highly stressful journeys by ambulance to other hospitals for specialist procedures.

P.S. Last year we did not deduct any expenses from the proceeds raised from our activities since all incidental costs were donated by members of the volunteer fundraising group, their family, friends, and local businesses. If for any reason this needs to change for 2009, we will say this here.
